Pagan Religions pre-date Christianity and were once widely practiced throughout the ancient world. For example, Mithraism—the worship of Mithras—was the most popular religion among Roman legionnaires. Indeed a statue of Mithras still exists inside St. Peter’s Basilica, and a great many of our religious and national holidays are variants on pagan rituals that marked the seasons and cross-quarters of an earth-based calendar.
